As of 1 July 2022 the Dutch government will introduce a temporary VAT reduction from 21% to 9% to limit the increase in energy costs. For now, this measure will be implemented until 1 January 2023 and it applies to all components of your energy bill, such as the network management costs, fixed delivery costs, but also to the tax credit. You can read more information about this on the website of the central government.
Adjustment of the installment amount
The temporary VAT reduction affects your energy costs, which is why we have redetermined the installment amount. The new installment amount was mailed to you. This new installment amount will be effective from August onwards and will be collected by us on July 27th if you pay by direct debit.
Why is the installment amount going up (if applicable to you)?
Because the VAT on the tax credit is also reduced, this has a negative effect on your energy costs when you have low energy consumption. This can also be the case when you generate a lot of energy by for instance solar panels.
What else can you do to keep costs down?
The most sustainable and cheapest energy is the energy that you do not use. Therefore, we are happy to help you in various ways to reduce your energy consumption. Tips can be found here.
